10 art contests to apply for in 2019
Call for entries
It’s sunny and warm outside, and I decided to have a sit and write a post on art competitions that sound intriguing to me. Recently I’ve done research on what’s available out there for artists in 2019, and here are 10 of my favourite art contests for the year. Please, keep in mind that some of them are open for UK citizens, residents and students, whereas others are international and anyone can apply.
Here’s my list of 10 art contests to apply for in 2019:
The Society of Women Artists
Qube Open Art Competition
The Sunny Art Prize
Aesthetica Art Prize
AIR Open 2019
The Sunday Times Watercolour Competition
John Moores Painting Prize
Art Gemini Prize
The Lynn Painter-Stainers Prize
Contemporary Watercolour Competition
Do the research and read the details
Art contests are a precious opportunity for both emerging and established artists. If you’d like you can make your own research to meet better your personal preferences, your work style and the media you use. You can get results on Google typing Call for entries or Call for artists. Then take your time to read the details for every contest that comes up and find out if you are eligible. Also, be prepared that your work wouldn’t suit everywhere. So don’t waste your time and energy in applying for competitions that obviously are not compatible with your artistic approach. For instance, if most of the time you create figurative art, it could be difficult to meet the requirements of a conceptual contest.
Hopefully, you were able to find something in this post that worked for you. Please, let me know in the comments below. You could also share something interesting that you might have found out and could possibly be helpful to others. And good luck in the rest of 2019!
